Role Description

We are looking for a Head of IT to join the team at Nu-Pro, based in Stroud. The Head of IT will be responsible for supporting the Finance Director and other senior business stakeholders in shaping and delivering the business’ IT, Data, Business Information and Security strategy, whilst understanding and managing IT risk for the business and driving efficient and value-added IT service delivery – this is a very hands-on role and will involve supporting the business at many different levels.

At an operational level, the Head of IT will ensure that the Company’s day-to-day IT provision and support function is operating efficiently and effectively. This role would suit someone who is either looking to make a step up or an established hands-on IT Manager / Support Manager / Head of IT who might want to grow a team out as the role evolves.

All end-user facing support is internal and resolved in-house. However, you will have access to fall back on our pre-existing 3rd party suppliers/vendors/ that will assist with you with troubleshooting and supporting the core infrastructure and any software (where it is within the scope of their support contract).

  • Manage information technology and computer systems
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Support the rollout of new applications
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Talk users through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Respond and operate within service level agreements and code of conduct to all queries and support requests
  • Provide desktop support in Windows, PC and Server environment including configuration of Active directory / Group policy and PowerShell and other server admin roles
  • Configuration, maintenance and set up of software and various pieces of IT equipment including Firewalls, routers, switches, servers, NAS’s etc
  • Work closely with our technology partners/suppliers and 3rd party vendors

It is desirable that you hold relevant recognised IT qualifications or can demonstrate a minimum of 3 years in a similar role such as (1st/2nd/3rd Line Support). Working experience or knowledge of the following Systems, Processes and Technologies is also desirable but not necessarily essential:

  • Microsoft Windows 10
  • Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019
  • Microsoft Exchange On-Prem 2016/2019
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
  • Hyper-V
  • Network Technology VLAN and IP routing protocols
  • Security Firewalls / UTMs (Palo Alto preferably)
  • SIP/IP Telephone Systems (3CX preferably)
  • Helpful and approachable attitude
  • High attention to detail with problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ambition, strong work ethic and open to new ideas

  • Wash, blast and clean parts and materials before processing
  • Mask areas for selective plating.
  • Treat parts in proper solutions; monitor solution levels and notify supervisor for solution correction.
  • Load and unload plating equipment as instructed.
  • Report any questionable work to supervisor.
  • Assists other operators with various plating operations as assigned.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • Adhere to Nu-Pro company policies
  • Performs other duties as requested, necessary or appropriate.

In addition to the above, Operators are to maintain an organised, clean and safe work area using safety standards and expectations while adhering to all quality practices. Management may change responsibilities and/or assignments to meet the business needs without prior notice.

  • Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) skills.
  • General understanding of typical measuring methods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of important aspects of AS9100 Quality Management System a plus.
  • Understanding of basic shop math.
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing and proof reading skills
  • Well organised
  • Language: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to verbally communicate effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret router instructions and specifications.
  • Properly use micrometres and other gauge measuring tools.
